Ingredient Spotlight: Clays for Skin Care

Using clay and the nutrients from mama Earth for skin care purposes is an ancient practice that has been around since the dawn of time. Truly, it’s no wonder that the practice hasn’t died out since it does absolute wonders for our skin.

Clay has so many benefits for skin care, including absorbing impurities from the pores and healing damaged skin. It also balances, tones, softens and regenerates. Of course, it depends on the type and color of the clay and, surely you could have guessed, there’s tons to choose from! Our favorites are below, plus the best way to incorporate clay into your skin care routine.

1. Kaolin Clay

A gentle clay that comes in a variety of colors, Kaolin clay is perfect for those with sensitive skin who need a gentle skin care approach. Among it’s magical benefits, Kaolin clay controls oiliness, naturally detoxifies and exfoliates, tones skin and calms irritation.

2. Rhassoul Clay

Mined from Morocco, Rhassoul clay is absolutely packed with minerals! In essence, it pulls impurities from your skin like a magnet. We’re talking black heads, oil, dirt and all that pore-clogging toxins that have settled into your skin. While it pulls, it also increases the elasticity in your skin, leaving your face soft in texture and hydrated.

How to use them in skin care:

Our Earth Fruit Mask uses a blend of Kaolin and Rhassoul clay to work as a cleanser to pull toxins from the skin while simultaneously promoting new cell growth. It naturally rids the skin of impurities without stripping the skin of natural oils, all while giving your face a beautiful complexion! If you want soft and smooth skin, then this mask is definitely for you!

To get the full effect, we suggest cleansing the face, then using our Fancy Cucumber Facial Toner before applying the face mask. Let the Earth Fruit Mask sit for 15-20 minutes, then remove it with hot water. To top off the skin care routine, apply our Aloe Serum to give your skin an extra kick of hydration.
