At-Home Face Masks: Five Ways to Self Care

Earth Fruit Mask

It’s safe to say that we all deserve a little (or bountifuls) of self-love right now. So, turn off the news, step away from your laptop and put your phone on “Do Not Disturb.” It’s time to give yourself the self-care you need.

And, what better way to self-care than with face masks? Here’s five fun and easy face masks you can make right at home. Feel free to force whoever you’re living with to join in on the fun (they probably need some TLC, too).

  • Avocado face mask
  •

Avocado is packed with antioxidants and vitamins that nourish, hydrate and soothe skin. Whether you have a sunburn, dry skin, or just want to get an extra boost of vitamin C, then a simple avocado face mask can do the trick.

    • Mash half an avocado until smooth
    • Add one tablespoon of honey and mix until fully combined
    • Apply the mixture to a cleansed face and let sit for 20-30 minutes

  • Avocado and banana face mask

  • We’re not done with avocado, yet! Paired with some banana that’s packed with vitamin A and potassium for skin restoration and hydration, this mask will leave you flawlessly glowing.

    • Combine half an avocado, half a banana and one tablespoon of olive oil into a bowl and mix until smooth
    • Apply the mixture to a cleansed face and let sit for 20-30 minutes

  • Turmeric mask
  •

Turmeric masks are a great DIY at-home acne treatment. Turmeric is antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, and helps balance sebum production (aka, the natural oil on your face). All of which are powerful for preventing breakouts!

    • Mix three tablespoons of powdered turmeric with two tablespoons of lemon juice. Add a teaspoon of water at a time and mixed until thick and smooth
    • Apply to cleansed face and leave on for five minutes
    • Don’t leave this mask on for too long as turmeric is known to stain (don’t worry; it’s only temporary!)

  • Citrus and honey mask
  •

If you are looking for that glow, then this citrus and honey mask is calling your name. It’s super simple to make and packed with vitamin C, known for its anti-aging and collagen-boosting properties.

    • Mix three tablespoons of fresh-squeeze orange juice and 3 tablespoons of honey
    • Rub the mask evenly on your face and let sit for 15-20 minutes

  • Wildflower Grains mask
  •

Looking to add that extra oomph to your face mask? Then you should definitely try our Wildflower Grains, which is packed with botanicals and exfoliants to gently cleanse and moisturize skin. The best part? You can add whatever mixture you want: avocado, aloe, yogurt, banana, citrus— whatever your heart desires!

      • Ingredients: Our Wildflower Grains is packed with gluten-free oats, organic coconut flakes, organic red roses, walnut shell, kelp powder, kaolin clay, green tea extract, white willow bark extract
  • How it works: Scoop a tablespoon of Grains into a small bowl. Mix with whatever base you’d like (or, just add water) to form a paste. Apply to a slightly moist face and allow to sit for 5-10 minutes.
  •
